Compost
Compost breaks Polluted Dirt and other Compostable items down into Dirt. It can be used to dispose of surplus of Food or Seeds provided that these resources have been marked for composting. The pile needs to be flipped by a Duplicant once every 50 kg of Dirt produced.
Usage
Duplicants flip compost based on Farm errand priority and the speed is affected by the Strength attribute.
As the building heats up itself and its contents to 75 °C167 °F while active, and has a very low decor value, the compost is best placed far away from living areas, preferably in a separated room. Despite the visual effects the pile does not emit any Polluted Oxygen by itself; rather, it is the Polluted Dirt that is being converted that is emitting it.
Compost helps getting rid of the Polluted Dirt from the Outhouses. The Dirt created can be used for farming or inside the Fertilizer Synthesizer. However, for Polluted Dirt that is very high in Germs, typically coming from a Water Sieve, the 75 °C167 °F heat is not sufficient to kill all of them before the resource is converted into Dirt, which then spread Food Poisoning to fertilized plants. Composting Balm Lily Flowers is a convenient way to make Dirt.
Tips
- Because of the output fixed temperature, Compost can be used to delete heat.
