Espresso Machine is a recreational building. A single Duplicant can use the Espresso Machine during downtime. It consumes 1 kg Pincha Peppernut and 1 kg Water per use, and provides a buff which raises Morale by 4 and athletics by 1. The Water is supplied via Liquid Pipe.
Tips
- Espresso Machine can give duplicants Food Poisoning if any of its ingredients carry germs.
- The Espresso Machine is an economical type of watering hole, consuming significantly less water than Soda Fountains or Juicers. This is only true if you do not consider the Pincha Peppernut. If it is gained from a domesticated Pincha Pepperplant, which does not receive any bonuses, that costs 70 kg of polluted water. This turns it into the least economical.
- The Athletics bonus Espresso Machines provide is advantageous for haulers specifically, as well as any other dupes, unless they stay the most of the time at the same location.
- The 480W power requirement is steep, and it is indeed being incurred as the Dupe drinks the Espresso.
Problems (as of version EX1-449549, February 2021)
- Aside from its size, another problem with this machine is that the Duplicant that is drinking the Espresso takes a while to drink it - almost one entire time block, in fact. This can eat into the Dupe's sleeping time if they drink before sleeping, or their working time if they are still drinking in such.
- Also, no other Duplicant can use the machine while a Duplicant is already drinking the Espresso in front of the machine.
- There does not appear to be any means of restricting the use of the machine to specific Duplicants. However, a workaround for this could be to put the machine in a room and blocking door access to every other duplicant than the one(s) intended to drink Espresso.
