Meteor Blaster
Range: 16 tiles horizontally, 32 tiles vertically.
Red: Disable
Meteor Blaster is a Rocketry Building. It aims towards meteors that enter its area and fires Blastshot at them to destroy them before impact, therefore preventing buildings exposed to space to suffer from impact-related damage.
Mechanics
The Meteor Blaster's range/work area is a 33x33 tiles square on top of the building, vertically centered on the middle tile of the building and starting on the top tile (5th from bottom to top) of the building, therefore sharing a line of tiles with the building itself. The area is visualized by a bluish square when planning or selecting the building. The Meteor Blaster requires sunlight exposure within its range, similar to a Telescope; although its interface claims that reduced sunlight coverage within its operating range leads to inferior performance, this is not necessarily true - the Meteor Blaster will continue to work perfectly as long as at least one column of its working range has sunlight exposure. However, the Meteor Blaster requires direct line of sight to meteors in order to detect them and shoot them down; any solid tiles will interfere with their line of sight and prevent them from detecting meteors.
Each shot destroys one meteor and costs one Blastshot. Meteors destroyed by Blastshot return 25% of the resources they would have dropped on collision with a tile.
Blastshot can be delivered to the building through Conveyor Rails as it has a shipping input.
Tips
- Meteor Blaster can be easily cooled down using Conduction Panels.
Bugs
Meteor Blasters can destroy Corium meteors coming out of Research Reactors during Reactor Meltdowns.
