The Oxylite Sconce is used to store Oxylite in order to let it off-gas Oxygen.
Mechanics
When the content of an Oxylite Sconce reaches 100kg Oxylite or lower, it generates a Life Support Supply errand.
The Oxylite placed inside the Oxylite Sconce acts the same as the debris, including its gas emission:
- It will stop emitting when the surrounding Atmosphere is above 1.8kg in pressure.
- A maintained Oxylite Sconce will be kept between 100-240kg Oxylite, thus emitting between 252-462g/s Oxygen per second.
- The Oxylite emission gets slower as its mass gets closer to 100kg.
- Concretely, the Oxylite will lose 140kg over exactly 400 seconds (16 schedule blocks).
- In other words, a maintained Oxylite Sconce averages 350g/s Oxygen as long as the Atmospheric pressure is low enough.
- Realistically, the average will be a bit lower due to the time it takes for the duplicants to complete the refill errands.
210kg Oxylite per cycles are used on average, in order to maintain 1 Oxylite Sconce with a 100% off-gas uptime.
Storage Bin comparison
Being a formalized Oxygen Building, using the Oxylite Sconce instead of a Storage Bin provides a few advantages:
- The errand type is Life Support.
- Less duplicant labour: the errand won't trigger until 100kg out of the 240kg Oxylite remains.
- More space control: the Oxylite Sconce can be placed aloft, and is only 1x1 tile wide.
- Clearer visual remaining indicator: the stored Oxylite chunk gets smaller and smaller as it is depleted.
- It gives +5 Decor (Radius 1 tile) instead of Storage Bin -8 Decor (Radius 2 tiles).
