The Science Attribute determines how quickly a Duplicant conducts Research and levels up their Attributes.

The Science attribute increases the speed of all attribute gains which are gained by doing according tasks. This means a Duplicant with a Science Skill of 10 (+100% Attribute leveling) will gain twice the Athletics and Machinery experience compared to a Duplicant with a Science skill of 0 if both are left operating a Manual Generator.

Training

As Science affects attribute leveling, it would be beneficial in the long-run to improve Science first.

Tips

  • It is usually recommended to have a single dedicated Duplicant with an interest in Science in order to eventually cap the Attribute.
  • Inexperienced players who struggle to keep a high Morale may dedicate two Duplicants to Research (one for Astronomy, one for Orbital Research), as the full Research Skill Tree demands 6 Morale (or 11 if it is not an Interest)
  • If your dedicated Researcher hits the Science cap of 20 (without Traits or Buffs) and you aim to MinMax, you may use other Duplicants to continue Research and Analysis and train their Science Attribute, effectively speeding up all other Attribute gains.
  • Duplicants meant to do another tasks but are paired with Science as a second or third Interest are worth to considering, as their basic Science Attribute will speed up their general Attribute gains. Furthermore, they can learn the Advanced Research Skill for 0 Morale cost to further increase the Attribute by +2 (+20% additional Attribute Leveling).
  • This means that any positive Trait of Buff that increases Science such as Quick Learner or Early Bird pair well with hard to level tasks such as Husbandry.

Traits

  • Quick Learner (+3)
  • Slow Learner (-3)
  • Early Bird (+2, but only in the morning)
  • Night Owl (+3, but only during night)
  • Duress to impress (+7 when above 60% stress)

Misconception

Prior versions of the game had its tooltip for Science wrongly state "how quickly a Duplicant conducts Research and gains Skill Points", which lead to the common misconception that it improves skill level experience rather than attribute level experience.

History

  • U57-697549: Undocumented change to description of the Science attribute.
  • LU-356355: The "Learning" Attribute was renamed to "Science".
