Water Sieve uses a Filtration Medium to purify Polluted Water. It needs to be supplied a Filtration Medium and receive Polluted Water in a Liquid Pipe on its Input port to function. It will output Water to the Liquid Pipe on its output slot. It will drop Polluted Dirt on the floor when its internal storage is full.

The Water Sieve does not change the water temperature.

Usage

The Water Sieve is a very helpful building as Water is a very important resource. It allows a colony to operate structures like the Carbon Skimmer or the Lavatory without consuming clean water by instead consuming Filtration Medium which is far more abundant. Water Sieve is required to make use of the Polluted Water found in the Swamp Biome.

Ratios

  • 1 constantly running Water Sieve can process up to 3 tons of water per cycle. This can supply 300 combined Lavatory and Sink uses per cycle, or 100 Shower uses.
  • 2 Water Sieves are needed to filter a full pipe of Polluted Water .
  • 1 Sieve can filter 5 active Carbon Skimmers.
  • 2 Compost piles are needed to purify the Polluted Dirt from 1 active Sieve.

Tips

  • If a Water Sieve is out of Filtration Medium, it will stop receiving any liquid from its Intake Pipe.
  • A Water Sieve will not be damaged by clean Water, Salt Water, or Brine. It will simply pass it along and does not change its temperature.
  • Filtering Water does not remove any germs contained in it. Be sure to filter your main water supply and waste water using separate Sieves. Germs in a Water Sieve will proliferate and spread to any future water filtered.
  • Polluted Water contaminated with Slimelung will override Food Poisoning when combined in the same storage. This can be achieved using an Algae Distiller with Slime, or by having a Duplicant covered in Slimelung use a Sink.
