Wood Burner produces power when supplied with Wood. It will operate until it runs out of Wood. It can be configured to be refueled only when the stored energy level in connected batteries drops below a set percentage.
Wood Burners are the least efficient among continuous generators, producing 3 kDTU/s and 56.66 g/s of Carbon Dioxide per 100 Watt.
Heat economy
It may not look like it, but technically Burners delete heat starting at the wood's temperature above 6 °C42.8 °F.
- Burning 30 °C86 °F wood will erase 80% of heat.
- With 100 °C212 °F wood it will erase 94% of heat.
Still, it is not potent enough to meaningfully negate Arbor Trees heat multiplying effects, but something might be gained by keeping trees in colder environment and preheating wood.
Tips
- Burners are pretty much just dirtier and less efficient Coal Generator with other, yet still renewable fuel. So all the same things apply twice.
- The generator can hold 360 kg of Wood and can therefore generate 90 KJ of energy before being refilled, enough to charge 2 Jumbo Batteries.
- Therefore it should be carefully balanced with the power consumers on the network, or controlled via a Smart Battery to prevent wasting a huge amount of resources.
- Wood Burners can be used to augment Slickster ranch and prevent slicksters from starving or turning into oxygen-eating Longhair Slicksters due to low temperatures.
- A wild Arbor Tree produces up to 138.8 g/s of wood, and a domesticated tree produces up to 555.5 g/s. It takes a minimum of 8.65 wild Arbor Trees, or 2.17 tame, to run a wood burner constantly.
