Removes or Replace

Does the air scrubber removes the CO2 or does it replace it with clean Oxygen?
If it only removes the CO2 then it means that you are loosing atmosphere by using the scrubber, right?

From what I’ve read, it removes. Though unrealistic because a device that does that makes carbonic acid which will separate in low atmospheric pressures. If it replaced you would have water + Carbon. Carbon isn’t soluable in water and so you’d wind up with a charcoal dust and water mixture. I suppose you could call that contaminated water but the carbon should settle to the bottom after a period of time.
