Microchip is created by a Duplicant with the Electrical Engineering Skill at a Power Control Station. It can only be used to increase the power output of generators.

It grants 50% power output increase without increasing fuel consumption or byproduct production for any generator except Solar Panels for 3 cycles. To do so, an Electrical Engineer will pick up a single Microchip and perform the Tinkering errand on a viable generator; in other words, one in a Power Plant room.

Tips

• Lead is the easiest to come by Refined Metal and, due to its low melting point and overheat temperature penalty, not of much use for building while being abundant in the Oil Biome, so it is a good idea to make Microchip exclusively from Lead.

Trivia

• Although it is made from Refined Metal, the Microchip item's primary element is Genetic Ooze. This allows it to be used on power generators that are in very hot places, for whatever reason.
