Celestial Detection is an important research towards Rocketry and unlocks the Space Scanner, which is used to detect incoming Rockets and Meteor Showers, and a Telescope, which is needed to look at the Starmap and detect destinations.

It should be noted that this research has different position on techtree in Base Game and Spaced Out DLC.
