Carbon Asteroid
No Description.
Type
Carbon Asteroid
Distance
10,000 km
Carbon Asteroid is a space destination with a distance of 10,000 km.
Usage
The Carbon Asteroid is composed entirely of solid allotropes of carbon and has no biological resources. It is generally composed of roughly equal amounts of Refined Carbon, Coal and Diamond, and is the only renewable source of Diamond. At 10,000 kilometers it is the closest destination for a space mission. The most efficient Rocket configuration for a mission to the Carbon Asteroid consists of 1 Liquid Fuel Tank and 3 Cargo Bays, returning 3.33 kilograms of cargo for every 1 kilogram of Petroleum.
Tips
- The amount of energy that can be obtained by burning the returned Coal is, assuming average resource composition and optimal rocket design, 33% less than the energy value of the spent Petroleum. If your goal is to acquire fuel to power your base, the Ice Planet is a better destination as it has plentiful Methane.
