Refined Carbon is a Consumable Ore which is obtained through Refinement, or by Rocketry. It can be created from Coal using the Kiln. It is used for the production of Steel inside the Metal Refinery.

Usage

Metal Refinery produces Steel from Refined Carbon, Iron and Lime:

20 kg Refined Carbon + 70 kg Iron + 10 kg Lime = 100 kg Steel

100 kg Refined Carbon + 1000 Radbolts = 100 kg Diamond

Refined Carbon has the highest melting point of any Solid material, but cannot be used for any construction - not even Tempshift Plates. Despite this, "natural" tiles of refined carbon can be produced by heating Coal as debris, allowing it to be used as walls for high-temperature gas or liquid storage.

Production

Kiln produces Refined Carbon from Coal and Wood:

125 kg Coal = 100 kg Refined Carbon
100 kg Wood = 50 kg Refined Carbon

When Coal is heated to 278.85 °C (melting point + 2 °C) it becomes Refined Carbon.

  • In Carbon Asteroid Fields at a rate of 64.2 kg – 192.6 kg per cycle.
  • In Gilded Asteroid Fields at a rate of 30 kg – 90 kg per cycle.
