Fossil Fragments are terrain features found near fossil dig sites as part of the Ancient Specimen story trait. They can be excavated by a Duplicant with the Masterworks skill, which destroys them but drops their mass in Fossil.

Fossil Fragments come in two sizes: Large (2x2), which consists of 2000 kg of Fossil, and Small (1x2), which is comprised of 1500 kg of Fossil.

To be excavated, fossil must not be entombed and must fully stand on a floor.
