This article is related to DLC content of Spaced Out.

Decontamination Showers are wash stations exclusive to the Spaced Out! DLC which use water to remove germs from Duplicants who walk past it in the (configurable) direction its arrows are facing (similarly to Sinks).

Decontamination Showers are the only wash stations in the Spaced Out! DLC that are capable of disinfecting Duplicants wearing an Oxygen Mask/Atmo Suit.

Despite the current in game description, they do not remove radiation doses.

Usage

Duplicant using a Decontamination Shower
A Duplicant using a Decontamination Shower to disinfect themself. Note the Polluted Water from the building being discharged through the Mesh Tiles.

Decontamination Showers disinfect Duplicants who walk by it, consuming 100 kg of Water per use, while gradually discharging the used Water as Polluted Water during use. Unlike Sinks, a Decontamination Shower has no slot for a liquid output pipe; the Polluted Water waste is spilled onto the floor as it is being used. Decontamination Showers are also capable of disinfecting Duplicants wearing Oxygen Masks or Atmo Suits; Sinks are not.

It takes 15 total seconds for a Duplicant to take a Decontamination Shower. The Polluted Water created by the Decontamination Shower retains the same temperature of the input Water that was used to create it.

Tips

  • As is the same with all other Buildings that can disinfect Duplicants, the Decontamination Shower cleanses Duplicants of their Germs regardless of whether or not its input Water already contains Germs. This allows the reuse of sieved, germy Water without risk of cross-contamination.
  • Duplicants using a Decontamination Shower in range of a light source (providing them with the "Well Lit" buff) reduces the use time of the Decontamination Shower from 15 seconds to 12.75.
  • Decontamination Showers can quickly convert large amounts of Water into Polluted Water at a 1:1 ratio, and the Polluted Water output also retains the same temperature of the Water input that was used to create it. Therefore, placing multiple Decontamination Showers in high-traffic areas may be a plausible way to quickly create large volumes of Polluted Water for projects that require large amounts of it to sustain (such as mass farms that rely on Polluted Water to sustain constant plant growth).

Trivia

  • Because Lead is required to build a Decontamination Shower, and because Lead decreases a Building's Overheat Temperature by -20°C, the Decontamination Shower's base Overheat Temperature may be considered 55°C for all practical purposes.
  • Somewhat misleadingly, Decontamination Showers do not decrease the amount of absorbed rads on a Duplicant. They do, however, remove Radioactive Contaminants, another type of Germ.
