Arboria Asteroid is an Asteroid Type in the game of Oxygen Not Included. It is variant of Verdante with lower temperatures and no Swamp Biome. Due to this, the only way to obtain Gold Amalgam is from meteors, thus, hot liquid handling and oil processing will require Steel early on.

Biomes

Example Arboria map. Note the lack of Swamp Biomes.

Arboria Asteroid is composed of the following Biomes:

Three Biomes are missing in Arboria:

Important Resources

Oxygen

There are some challenges in the early game as the Forest Biome contains little Water and almost no Algae that can be processed into early Oxygen. Digging out to the Rust biome will be essential to growth as the limited water will hinder Oxyferns. From there, the standard methods of harnessing geysers applies.

Water

Arboria has very limited Water in the early game, making it best used for advanced research rather than irrigation. The Tide Pool Biome has Salt Water, which can be desalinated, while Ice from the Cold Biomes can be melted using Tempshift Plates.

Polluted Water

Arboria lacks Polluted Water. The only natural sources are Polluted Ice in the Frozen Biome and geysers.

Raw Minerals

The Forest Biome has large quantities of Igneous Rock. The Tide Pool Biome provides Sedimentary Rock.

Metal Ore

The Forest Biome has large quantities of Aluminum Ore. The Caustic Biome provides Iron Ore. More Iron Ore can be gained from processing Rust.

Arboria lacks Copper Ore and Gold Amalgam on the map, and both must be collected from the Space Biome. This has some negative impact on buildings with decoration value. And production of Oxylite is more difficult.

Reed Fiber

Arboria lacks Thimble Reed, thus Reed Fiber has to be sheared from Dreckos.

Crude Oil

The Oil Biome has large quantities of Crude Oil.

Agriculture

Pacus are available in Arboria, but Algae is difficult to obtain.

Industry

Both Copper Ore and Gold Amalgam are only available via meteors in Arboria. Their refined versions may be obtained from metal volcanoes on some maps. As a result there is some difficulty in production of Oxylite and Super Coolant. Before access to space, steel has to be used when a high overheat temperature is needed.

There is only one hatch on Arboria. Coal production is slowed until the Printing Pod could print some Hatches, or one increases numbers.

Heat Management

Heat can be easily managed in Arboria as both the Frozen Biome and Rust Biome are available.

Engineering Details

Arboria is named ForestDefault in game code.
