Igneous rock is a Mineral found in abundance in the Caustic and Oil Biomes and in smaller quantities in the Frozen and Temperate Biomes. It can be used as a general construction material.

Usage

While Igneous Rock possesses no Decor bonus, its primary value lies in its high thermal volume and low conductivity. Together, this makes it extremely useful as an insulator in the early- to mid-game before CeramicCeramic and InsulationInsulation is readily available. It is especially useful when used to build Insulated Tiles, Insulated Liquid Pipes and Insulated Gas Pipes.
Igneous Rock also possesses together with ObsidianObsidian the highest Radiation Absorption rate of Raw Minerals.

  • Rock Crusher can break Igneous Rock into SandSand.
100 kg Igneous Rock = 100 kg Sand.

Production

It forms from solidified Magma, which is a renewable resource on maps with volcanoes. Alternatively it can be sourced from melted RegolithRegolith, which is a renewable on every map, it also in addition creates enormous amount of heat to be utilized.

This content was added in Spaced Out It can be harvested on rocket missions to renewable Space POIs:

  • In Forested Ore Fields at a rate of 378 – 1134 kg per cycle.
  • In Rocky Asteroid Fields at a rate of 216 – 648 kg per cycle.
