Super Computer can be operated by a Duplicant with Advanced Research skill to conduct Advanced Research and unlock new technologies; this is required for research tiers higher than 2.
It requires a Pitcher Pump or some other source of bottled purified Water to 'cool' the super computer.
- Despite the canonical description of its need for Water, the Water is outright consumed, i.e. it is gone and it does not return as hotter Water.
Super Computer does not replace a Research Station, which is still required to produce Novice Research points.
Tips
- As a Science Building, the Super Computer receives a +10% efficiency bonus when placed inside a Laboratory.
- The research requires large amounts of water. It is advisable to ration the water in starting biome by researching only necessary techs until the reliable source of water is established.
- Futhermore, increments to the efficiency of research with this device increase the speed at which the points are accrued, but also increases the rate of Water consumption.
- This also means that a Duplicant would also be spending considerable time delivering water to the Supercomputer.

- On the other hand, it can be utilized for early-game heat removal by feeding the super computer with hot water.
- This requires placing Pitcher Pumps on top of bodies of hot Water, and nowhere else in order to have Duplicants draw water only from this source. There are no means to restrict the use of Water to Water of specific temperatures.
