Increases the Temperature and output of an analyzed Geyser

Multiple Geotuners can be directed at a single Geyser anywhere on an asteroid.
The targeted geyser receives stored amplification data when it is erupting.

Materials

Geotuner is a Station that can be used to boost both the output and temperature of a specific Geyser.

Use

Researching Geysers

After a Duplicant learns the Field Research skill, they can analyze a geyser. This action takes a variable amount of time based on duplicant Science attribute, however once finished it provides the following information when selected:

  • the Active Period (how many Cycles it is Active for and how many Cycles it is dormant for)
  • the time until the next Active period (if Dormant)
  • the time until the next Dormant period (if Active)
  • the Average Output (in grams per second)
  • Amount of Geotunings currently active (if selected by one or more Geotuners)

Once analyzed, a small device is added to the sprite of the geyser.

Effects

The Geotuner can be used to increase the output of an analyzed geyser by 20%. The output of the geyser is also heated; the degree of temperature increase varies by geyser type. Duplicants with the Field Research skill must use resources to generate data at the Geotuner, which is consumed only when the geyser is erupting. Each geyser can be targeted by up to 5 Geotuners, although each Geotuner can only target one geyser at a time.

UI

The UI of the Geotuner allows you to see any unearthed geysers. The geyser must have been previously selected in the world to appear on this list, regardless of any activity or if it has been excavated fully, despite whether or not they have been analyzed. Any unanalyzed geysers will be greyed out, and are unselectable. Analyzed geysers can be selected, and when hovered over will display the amount that the temperature and volume will be boosted by, as well as the Resource needed to complete the geotuning. The type of material needed to boost each geyser varies by type of geyser, but the amount is not shown until selected. The amount of Geotuners targeting each geyser is also shown on the UI.

Tips

  • Geotuners do not need to be placed within any certain distance of a geyser, and can therefore be set up wherever is most convenient for the player
  • Geotuners have to be inside a Laboratory room to function.
