Hydrogen Engine is a rocket engine that burns Liquid Hydrogen. It is the most powerful engine type. It exhausts superheated steam at 1,726.9 °C3,140.42 °F. Throughout takeoff, the area below the engine will be heated to a maximum temperature of 2,926.9 °C5,300.42 °F at a strong rate, 3 times as powerful as a Steam Engine.
Different from Steam Engine, Hydrogen Engine does not store the fuel by itself. Additional Liquid Fuel Tanks are required to store the Liquid Hydrogen. Oxidizers are stored in the Solid Oxidizer Tanks in case of Oxylite or Liquid Oxidizer Tanks in case of Liquid Oxygen.
Tips
- A rocket chimney spanning the entire height of the asteroid allows getting more water than is used to launch the rocket (after using an electrolyzer to generate fuel) and getting a consequent amount of power. Rough numbers estimate above 12 kW of power and above 1000 g/s of water per rocket when launching to the closest destination.
