Constructing a new rocket requires building a rocket platform, then clicking the "new module" button in platform side screen.

Allows Rockets to launch from as well as land on Planetoids. A Trailblazer Lander is required for Planetoids without a Rocket Platform.

Mechanics

In order for the Rockets to use a Rocket Platform, the vertical flight path of the Rocket cannot be obstructed by solid blocks. However, rockets are not obstructed by Pipes, Wires, Ladders, Drywalls, and Tempshift Plates.

The maximum height of a rocket from the bottom to the top (excluding the platform) is 35 tiles (when using a Hydrogen engine). If there is less than 35 tiles of clearance to the top barrier from the platform, the status "Low Clearance: x Tiles" appears in the description of the Rocket Platform. See Rocketry (Spaced Out) for detailed clearance needs for different rockets.

The red boxes which quickly form when a Rocket is about to be built or a Rocket is about to land upon the Platform, are purely visual and show the maximum rocket height supported by the of the currently landed rockets' engine. They form above the Rocket Platform and behind the Rocket, and cosmetically contain the supporting infrastructure of the Rocket. They do not act as backwalls.

The Rocket Platform has two rocket platform ports at its sides, allowing the attachment of other Rocket Platforms, Rocket Port Loader and Rocket Port Unloader buildings by constructing them right next to each other. You can chain together multiple rocket platforms and loader/unloader buildings. Doing so will allow each loader/unloader building in the chain to load/unload cargo modules of rockets landed on all connected rocket platforms

Tips

  • Rovers cannot build Rocket Platforms.
  • The easiest and quickest way to build a Rocket Platform on a new Planetoid is with 2 Trailblazer Landers, which can be deconstructed for a combined 800 Refined Metal. The Rocket in orbit can then proceed to land on the newly constructed Platform (without any Duplicants).
  • The rocket platform can be built safely from any refined metal (including lead), since it does not exchange any heat.
