Swampy Biome

The Swamp Biome is the starting biome of the Swampy Asteroid. On first printing your dupes will gasp for fresh air, and upon finding none, will quickly become mouth breathers. A lack of fresh water is apparent, as well as clean dirt to make into early food. At least the air is breathable even if you have to strain it through your teeth.

Clear water is rare in this biome, and so is clean air. You will have to run it through filters in order to acquire more.

Do not expect the climate to remain temperate for too long if you are surrounded by tundra as it will quickly cool off your area.

You may discover that your start is surrounded by polluted water on all sides. Care must be taken when digging if you don't want your clean water supply tainted as mud and polluted mud fall like sand, and as polluted dirt off gasses, it will eventually weaken and fall away at the pressure of the polluted water. It may be best for you to plan a large cistern below your base quickly to avoid a catastrophe later on, and relocate all your pacus there.

If you are lucky a few pacus might turn into some gulpfish and clean your cistern for you.

The good news is that there is no starting bacteria. You only need to provide your own.
