Solids are one of the three main substances in Oyxgen Not Included. They exist naturally as tiles, and can be dug into raw materials. Solids serve a wide variety of purposes, from basic building to advanced machinery. Digging a solid tile will destroy half of its mass, while the other half is transformed into movable material. Solids melts 3°C above their specified melting point. The same, liquids solidify 3 °C under their specified freezing point.
Mechanics
- Solid Natural Tiles will display a "sweating" animation when they are close to a phase change. This includes a phase change to another solid.
- The sweating animation begins 2.5% below the phase change temperature and will end 2.5% above the phase change temperature, measured in Kelvin. So, for example, for Ice (melting point -0.65°C / 272.5 K), the sweating animation begins at -6.83°C / 266.3 K and ends at 6.83°C / 280.0 K. Elements with higher melting points will show the sweating animation for larger ranges, and elements with lower melting points will show the sweating animation for smaller ranges.
- There are no examples of solids having a phase change down.
Default Mass
- All solids have a default mass per tile. This is used during world generation.
- Freezing a natural tile of liquid into a solid will form either Debris or a solid natural tile if the tile has at least 80% of the solid's default mass. This state change will not take into account the liquid's default mass.
- However, Debris which changes state into a solid will always form a Natural Tile regardless of the mass of the debris. This includes solid debris as well as bottled liquids.
Max Mass
- All solids have a max mass per tile.
