As opposed to the Base Game version of the Petroleum engine, the 'Small Petroleum Engine needs a Liquid Pipe Input, and stores 450 kg Petroleum.

The Small Petroleum Engine requires an Oxidizer tank, typically a Small Solid Oxidizer Tank containing either Fertilizer or Oxylite, or a Liquid Oxidizer Tank containing Liquid Oxygen. Large liquid tanks have an increased burden and height cost, however, so the efficiency gain of liquid oxygen may not be worth using with the reduced height available.

Small Petroleum Engines use 45kg of petroleum fuel per hex travelled, and the range can be extended with additional fuel tanks.

The Carbon Dioxide exhaust gas from a petroleum engine will be in the range of 1400C or more, and may cause some types of metal ores, refined metals and rock to melt.
