Biomes are regions of Asteroids. The number of biomes on an asteroid varies from only 2 on the niche outer asteroids to a whopping 11 on the classic-style starting asteroids. Some biomes can only be found on specific asteroids, and some biomes are completely missing from games generated with certain settings.

General

Content in this section is linked to content from Biome. Please edit that page to modify this section.

Each biome contains different resources, critters, and plants, and are mostly separated by veins of Abyssalite.

Although each biome has a color shading applied to it that stays after the biome is mined out, there are no special properties beyond the contents of the biomes.

Biome Description

Aquatic Biome

A surprisingly diverse biome, given that 90% of it is covered in water. Many different rock types, as well as Graphite and Lime. Found only on the Water Asteroid, covering 75% of the total area of the asteroid.

Barren Biome

vast amount of hard rock and medium amount of mixed iron ( refined and raw ) could be find in here, does not have any plants or animal.

only several of planet have this biome, pretty uncommon.

Forest Biome

home to plant, squirrel and dupes, it's alternative start of temperature biome when you start on forest planets, arbor planet, or oasis planet

2 type of animal could found in here, 5 types of plant could also find in here

this biome is less common

Jungle Biome

an common biome that could find in almost any planet, included starting planet. you could find iron ore, phosphorite, and igneous rock, this biome is normally surrounded by a several block wide granite which makes it need hard digging skill to enter.

3 plants and 1 animal could find in here

Magma Biome

the core of the planet, filled with lava, obsidian, and some neutronium. you could harvest it's geothermal power by building steam turbine, or use it to

heat up oil to get petroleum at %100 rate.

exploit it wisely, it's very hot and could kill your dupes in accident

Marsh Biome

also called swamp biome, 2 types of plant and 2 types of animal could be find in here. this is the first place that you will find the pacu fish, which produces a tons of egg with 2x content than normal egg or pacu fillet for +2 to +4 mood

Metallic Biome

Niobium Biome

Ocean Biome

Sand, Salt and Bleachstone abound in this unique briny biome.

Pokeshell Molt is an excellent source of Lime but much care must be taken with domesticating this species as it can get aggressive around its eggs.

Harvesting Waterweed provides Lettuce for many higher-tier foods.

Any water will need to be filtered through a Desalinator to remove the Salt from Water in order to be useful for my Duplicants. Luckily Table Salt can be produced using a Rock Crusher which, when combined with a Mess Table, gives my Duplicants a Morale boost.

Oily Biome

Radioactive Biome

This biome has seams of Uranium Ore. It also has a lot of Ice and Polluted Ice at initially very low temperatures, low enough to freeze most gases. Beetas and their Hives also occur in pockets in this biome, adding to the danger.

Rust Biome

Space Biome

Swampy Biome

This is the starting biome for the Swampy Asteroid. Upon arrival your dupes will gag, and quickly become mouth breathers using 30% more air than normal. At least the air is the least of your worries as while the air is foul, it is breathable, and the walls and the water release more air naturally. What should be concerning is the lack of clean water.

You will start with a small reservoir of clean water nearby, and this will likely be all you have that isn't frozen for a while. You should protect this source from becoming tainted. Luckily the only things you need this water for early on is for research and hygiene. Food can be obtained with polluted water or sulfur, and oxygen is abundant naturally, or can be gained from polluted dirt.

Be warned though, the polluted dirt walls will off gas and weaken, and may actually collapse, causing polluted water to spill. Even worse, polluted mud and mud both act like sand, so neither one will contain reservoirs of polluted water for you, and before you know it, you may have a headache in action. It is recommended that you build a large cistern underneath your colony for all of the polluted water as soon as you are able to avoid catastrophe.

Pacus also make an excellent supplementary food source, especially since the wheezeworts nearby in the tundra are radioactive. Relocating them to the cistern can help both with your food supply as they live out their natural wild lives, and if you're lucky a few might turn into gulp fish and clean the cistern for you.

Temperate Biome

Tundra Biome

Your first encounter with this biome may likely be on the Swampy Asteroid. This biome is the cold biome that will be surrounding the start. It is full of ice, polluted Ice, salt and snow. Among them there will also be two cold geysers and an Anti Entropy Thermo-Nullifier. The temperature will be around 20 degrees Celsius below zero. When this biome melts, expect a lot of brine, polluted water, and polluted Oxygen. This is about as mild as this biome can get.

In other places this biome can get cold. It is able to have Liquid Oxygen meaning it gets down to at least -183 degrees Celcius. Your dupes will exhale chunks. Bring a warm coat.

Wasteland Biome

This biome is the home to the Sweetle who tends the Spindly Grubfruit Plants to make them grow well. This temperate biome will be a good source of food for an early colony, as both the product from the sweetle, sucrose, and their effects on the grubfruit plant when combined can turn into food that will last a while, even without refrigeration.

When near the surface of the asteroid, this biome is a cold, desolate location. Your dupes' breath will drip from their lips as they mine out the minerals. No organic material will be found, but you will find extra dirt and ore to bring home.

If extra metal or filtration medium is required, some can also be found here, as well as possibly some extra water if you look hard enough.
