Brine
Brine is a source of Water and Salt. It is naturally obtainable in low temperature areas of Tide Pool Biome.
Usage
Desalinator can turn Brine into Water and Salt. 5 kg/s Brine = 3.5 kg/s Water + 1.5 kg/s Salt.
When heated to 105.75 °C (vaporization point + 3 °C), Brine will turn into Steam (70% mass) and Salt (30% mass). This is heat deleting, as the combined SHC of the products is 3.1353 SHC. Running hot (> 40 °C) brine through a Desalinator is heat deleting as well.
Production
Brine is naturally obtainable in low temperature areas of Tide Pool Biome.
When cooling Salt Water down to -10.5 °C (freezing point - 3 °C), it will turn into Ice (77% mass) and Brine (23% mass).
Melting Brine Ice will turn it into Brine.
It can be harvested on rocket missions to renewable Space POIs:
- In Salty Asteroid Fields at a rate of 216 – 648 kg per cycle.
- In Interstellar Oceans at a rate of 37.5 – 125 kg per cycle.
