Cobalt is a Refined Metal produced by processing Cobalt Ore (Spaced Out).pngCobalt Ore Molten Cobalt.png with a Rock Crusher, Metal Refinery, or Smooth Hatches. Cobalt is also produced in its Molten Cobalt.pngliquid phase Cobalt Gas.png Cobalt (Spaced Out).png by Cobalt Volcanoes.

Usage

As a Refined Metal, Cobalt can be used to build advanced Power systems, buildings, and Automation systems.

Production

The Metal Refinery can produce Cobalt from Cobalt Ore (Spaced Out).pngits ore Molten Cobalt.png in 1:1 ratio. 100 kg Cobalt Ore = 100 kg Cobalt. It requires Duplicants operation.

An alternative way to produce Cobalt is Smooth Hatches herding. A Smooth Hatch roughly eats 100 kg Cobalt Ore and excretes 75 kg Cobalt.

Rock Crusher can produce Cobalt from Cobalt Ore too. This is not recommended due to lower efficiency of 50%. 100 kg Cobalt Ore = 50 kg Cobalt + 50 kg Sand. It requires Duplicants operation.

Tips

Cobalt has an extremely high thermal conductivity so it can be used for temperature shift plates instead of diamond if needed.
